1964 Ford Fairlane Afterburner built by Ringbrothers

This gorgeous project car debuted at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Nicknamed “Afterburner,” it’s based on a two-door 1964 Ford Fairlane. The full makeover included a carbon fiber hood, fenders, front and rear bumpers, side intakes, and deck lid spoiler. The Ringbrothers’ billet aluminum decorates the car from engine bay to tail lamps. The shiny paint job features three different colors from BASF R-M Diamont: Afterburner Red, Agent Orange, and Mission Brown. The show-stopping look is rounded out with a set of Forgeline three-piece wheels.

Under the hood, the 1964 Ford Fairlane has a Roush 427 IR crate motor. It’s a beautiful 7.0L V8, mated to a Ford AOD-E automatic transmission and converter built by Bowler. There’s also a Master Shift paddle system integrated into the steering wheel. It has a Be Cool radiator, a Fuel Safe 16-gallon fuel cell, and Flowmaster mufflers to go with the Ringbrothers custom-built headers and pipes. It’s not just a pretty face, either! This powertrain puts out 560 horsepower and 551 lb-ft of torque.

The interior of this 1964 Ford Fairlane comes from Unlimited Upholstery and the Ringbrothers’ own custom designs. It’s full of billet aluminum details, like the machined-aluminum prop rods that hold up the sunshades. It also features custom stock bench seats, a Ringbrothers custom design dashboard, push-button electric door latches, and Vintage Air HVAC and EATON fittings. The 1966 Oldsmobile steering wheel also features a IDIDIT tilt column. “Afterburner” also has a few modern upgrades with the Alpine/MTX sound system with GPS, Sirius, and Bluetooth functions. “Afterburner” sold at the 2014 Barrett-Jackson auction with less than 1,000 miles on it since the restoration finished.
