This award-winning 1971 Chevrolet Camaro named “Brute Force” could be yours. It’s going up be up for auction at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction that takes place from January 13-21, 2018. Owner and builder Bob Bertelsen left no bolt or part untouched in this masterpiece of a street machine.
It’s not just for show either, this premier Pro-Touring car truly lives up to its “Brute” name. Under its almost completely hand-built hood is a powerful 7.0L Mast Motorsports LS7 427 SS motor that pumps out 650 horsepower. Bob Bertelsen is a racer himself and built this car to handle roaring speeds. He chose DSE suspension systems with a Hydro Formed front sub frame, and Quadra Link in the rear. The front suspension mounts tubular upper and lower control arms, DSE power rack-and-pinion steering, and a DSE Splined Sway Bar.
Making use of all of this power is a Bowler prepped Tremec T-56 Magnum 2:66 first gear transmission with custom Bowler shift fork pads, a SPEC stage 3+ clutch, a SPEC steel flywheel, Quicktime bellhousing, and a Tilton 3/4″ bore master cylinder. JRi coilovers sit at all four corners and DSE wide wheeltubs were placed in the rear to make room for the extra large BFG G-force tires and Forgeline wheels. This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro will tackle the track or the street with ease.
This car is truly one of a kind, with modifications on every panel. Every port and duct that was custom carved into the sheetmetal was added with the purpose of making this car perform better. On top of high performance, you can’t ignore its exceptional appearance. No single element was overlooked, including the BASF “Brute Force Blue” paint which was designed by Bob himself. Any piece that wasn’t painted was powder coated, including the center and spokes of the Lecarra steering wheel.
Behind the wheel is a custom dashboard with a Stack Motorsports multifunction display gauge cluster, an Ididit Inc. tilt steering column, Vintage Air controls, and a Stack tire pressure & temperature monitoring system for your racing needs. Almost everything inside of this Camaro was custom built or modified, from the fabricated door and seat panels to the Pro-Car seats in the same gray and orange leather that covers much of the interior.
Inside you’ll also find a Bowler Billet Shift Lever with a TWM Stainless Steel knob. For sound it’s equipped with 4 Alpine speakers, a Kenwood head unit with remote, and 2 Kenwood Sub Woofers. A Garmin GPS is also installed to help you find your way to your next show or race.
This exceptional car has taken home many awards including the Holley LS Festival Best of Show, Lingenfelter Nationals Best of Show, and the Pittsburgh World of Wheels Steel City 6 (One of top 6 cars of show.)
