Description
For 700-R4 & 200-4R Transmission
Are you tired of the trial and error method of adjusting your TV cable on your 700-R4 and 200-4R transmission? The crew at Bowler Performance Transmission sure was! That’s why they developed their own kit to solve this problem. When you purchase one of Bowler’s Tru-Shift systems you will get the easiest and best functioning TV cable adjusting system available. When you install this system you simply bolt on the supplied bracket and carburetor cam assembly, install the Bowler TV cable, then run the accelerator to wide open throttle. The cable will automatically adjust itself and you’re done. With this system there is no need to remove the carburetor, no cams to adjust, no need to drop the transmission pan, no need to install a pressure gauge to check the pressures and best of all – no more guessing. Bowler even includes different throttle cable brackets to cover Lokar, Gennie, GM square and early round hole. Each one attaches neatly to the supplied bracket. We have kits available for Holley, Edelbrock, FiTech TBI, Demon, MSD & Quickfuel Carburetors.
** We do not have anything for the Fitech LS Fuel Injection Intake **
**Please note that if you do have a FiTech we have a measurement you need to take to make sure it will fit – See the attached Image of how to measure your FiTech.**FITech Tru-Shift System Measurments
** Sorry we do not have anything for Quadrajet, Rochester or any single or two barrel original style carbs **
Note: If you have a Quickfuel Carburetor, we will need to see pictures of the base and the cam. Please email us pictures at info@bowlertransmissions.com or call us at 618-943-4856.

9 reviews for Tru-Shift Throttle Correction System 700-R4 / 200-4R
After dropping a few thousand on a new 700-R4, I was never happy with the way it was shifting. I was using the carburetor manufacturer’s correction kit, but it still just never seemed right. I was very concerned that I would burn out the clutches prematurely, and spent several frustrating hours adjusting the tension on the TV cable to no avail.
I took to seek out a solution that would take the guesswork out and give me the peace of mind that I had installed everything correctly. The provided instructions and YouTube videos were great and made the installation a snap. It took longer to siphon the fluid out than it took to install the bracket and cable. As the instructions indicate, you just connect the cable to the bracket and gently move the throttle arm to WOT. The cable will ratchet itself out to the proper setting. Done and done.
Now the TV cable has just the right amount of tension when idle, and the slightest movement of the throttle increases the line pressure immediately. My shifts are smoother and most importantly at the correct speeds and line pressure when making the way up the gears.
The kit may seem expensive, but there is a cost associated with my own time and frustration trying to get a universal cable and bracket working.
This is worth every penny, and I couldn’t be happier.
Al in all very well designed system. I had one small problem, the tab that goes against the throttle to hold the bracket in place had to tweaked a bit to get the bracket to turn in enough so as to be parallel with the throttle shaft. Out of the box the cable end was pointed more towards the inlet of the radiator. Had to grind about an 1/8″ off the locating tab to correct this misalignment, but it was no big deal as the system works perfect. Only other problem was that after doing the factory adjustment the setting was a bit to tight which created late hard shifts, but this was not a problem of the system itself, but the fact that there is a shim in the throttle plunger from the trasngo 700 jr shift kit that will have to be removed to correct this. Overall IMO best kit on the market for proper setup of TV cable, a bit pricey but worth it in the end. Thanks.
Good looking quality product, had to trim the FI Tech throttle shaft slightly to fit in the recessed hole on your piece.
I learned about this product at the Good Guys show in Columbus a few years ago. I had my brother purchase it for his 1970 GTO after he had a 200-4R installed and it worked out great.

AWESOME CUSTOMER SVC AND GREAT PRODUCT
Very nice product. Made a huge difference. Had a Lokar aftermarket cable and an adapted bracket. Geometry was not quite correct, and although the Bowler product was a little spendy, it was worth the purchase, and far cheaper than a new transmission, or complete rebuild.
great product… fast shipping ….who could ask for more !
Excellent product I will be purchasing more of these kits because I install plenty 4L60 in classic cars and trucks
Works great ! Easy to instal.
