If you have a T-56 Magnum Transmission and are planning on using it for auto cross, road racing, or any extreme performance of over 500 horsepower then you’re going to need an internal pump upgrade. We wanted to give you some more information on this awesome pump that can really make a huge difference with your transmission.
We do want to note that the T-56 Magnum Internal Pump Upgrade does require the disassembly of your transmission to install. Make sure that you’re completely comfortable in your abilities to remove and replace the front cover of the transmission. This package is made with the needed components to convert your existing T-56 Magnum Transmission to operate the same type of pump cooling system used on the factory TR-6060. When you’re operating your T-56 transmission at a high horsepower level, you’re going to need transmission oil cooling.
So here at Bowler, we designed and machined the T-56 front cover to be able to accept the fitting and pump components needed to attach the output line to your provided cooler and lines. You can install the return line into the fill plug port or a different access port can be machined and added in your location of choice on the main body of the transmission.
The internal pump package comes with a swap-in front cover that is specially designed to accept the Tremec pump with a -6AN male outlet fitting. We recommend that you place the external cooler you are using in front of the radiator for air flow. If that’s not possible, just make sure that it can get a direct flow of air. We also advise that you use an electric cooling fan if you are mounting the cooler under the vehicle in an area that doesn’t receive direct air flow.
